When will Chelsea vs Luton Town take place?
The Carabao Cup second round takes place on the week commencing 24 August. However, on that very day, the Monday night, Chelsea will kick off their Premier League campaign against West London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage. Xabi Alonso's side will then welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge the following Sunday.
Thus, their EFL Cup fixture can only take place on Thursday 27 August.
Why are Chelsea involved in the Carabao Cup second round?
The 11 Premier League clubs who have failed to qualify for UEFA competition join the 35 first round winners in the second round. This, of course, includes Chelsea, following their disastrous tenth place finish under Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior and Calum McFarlane last time round.
