Marc Cucurella could be one of the first Chelsea players out the door this summer.

The left-back is currently away at the 2026 World Cup with Spain but all the talk surrounding him remains on where he'll play his domestic football next season.

Cucurella appears adamant his time at Stamford Bridge is over and there are already several clubs considering making approaches in the coming weeks.

Second Premier League club keeping tabs on Marc Cucurella

The Spain international, who joined Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022 for £60 million, has been one of the Blues' best players in recent seasons.

Despite a rocky start to life in west London, the 27-year-old has made the left-back position his own and was a mainstay in both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior's starting XI. It seems his time is coming to an end though as he looks for a new challenge.

Recent reports have claimed Cucurella has serious admirers in both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. It isn't just Spanish clubs who are watching the defender's situation closesly though.

According to Mundo Deportivo, both Manchester clubs have Cucurella on their summer shortlists with United 'monitoring' his situation over the past few months.

Even though it's not a priority position, the Red Devils still need to sign a left-back this summer. Luke Shaw is coming into the twilight of his career and there are very few other options.

Newcastle United's Lewis Hall is rumoured to be Michael Carrick's ideal target but with the Magpies' stance unknown, it could be that the 20-time league champions view Cucurella as the more attainable player.

A move abroad for Cucurella will be Xabi Alonso's preference

Even though Xabi Alonso doesn't officially take charge until July 1, it would be foolish to think the Spaniard hasn't been kept well informed on Cucurella's situation.

It goes without saying the new Chelsea manager would rather have Cucurella next season, but with his mind made up, Alonso may have little say in the matter.

Consequently, picking the lesser of two evils, Alonso would prefer the 27-year-old move on to a club abroad rather than see him line up for a domestic rival.

During his four years at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella, who has three years left on his contract, has been directly involved in 22 goals in 163 matches in all competitions. He has won the 2024-25 UEFA Conference League and 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
