Chelsea have a number of strikers in their sights and they just found out the price of one of the hottest prospects on the market. Sky Sports reporter Florain Plettenberg took to his Twitter account to reveal the release clause for Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig who is at the top of the list for many English clubs.

The reported asking price for Sesko is currently at €70 million but could rise to €80 million if he hits a number of benchmarks in games played and goals scored which he is on track to do before the end of the season. He is under contract until 2029 but the release clause could be activated and Leipzig could cash in on the hot prospect they purchased for just €24 million in 2023.

The 21 year old Slovenian has been at Leipzig for two seasons after spending 3 years at RB Salzburg who operate under the same ownership umbrella. In these two years in Germany, he has been a prolific goalscore in all competitions with 35 goals and 7 asists in 76 appearances.

Six of those goals have come in the Champions League in 16 appearances so there should be little concern of him only scoring against lesser opposition. He brings a physical presence to the striker position and should have no trouble holding up in the Premier League.

With so many options at striker out there, ranging from Liam Delap with soon to be relegated Ipswich to spending upwards of £100 million on Victor Osimhen, the Blues will have to be cautious in the market. We have seen how quickly a big money signing can tank especially if they are unable to handle the pressure associated with the price tag.

When it comes to Sesko, he has made a rapid rise up the ranks in world football and at 21 has his best football ahead of him. He is a talented and physical young player and the big money spent on him could lead to a decade-long run at Stamford Bridge.
