Chelsea have one of the best number 10s in the world right now in Cole Palmer. Yet, it looks like they have another one in their sights this summer. Someone it will take a mega transfer fee to sign as well. It would be a statement signing for sure but would it be a needle-mover for Enzo Maresca's side next season?

Right now, Christopher Nkunku is a backup option for Palmer in the number 10 role. But the Frenchman is expected to depart Chelsea this summer, having failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, first under Mauricio Pochettino and now, Maresca.

Joao Felix spent time out on loan at AC Milan but was not signed on a permanent basis. It remains to be seen what the long-term future holds for the talented Portuguese ace who just can't seem to find his feet anywhere. There have been suggestions that a return to Benfica could be on the cards.

On the other hand, it looks like Chelsea have their sights on Morgan Gibbs-White. As reported by Football Insider, Mick Brown said:

"Morgan Gibbs-White is a player I hear they’ve been having a look at.

“He’s a very talented player and will bring energy to their midfield, that’s what they want.

“He’s athletic and can make a big difference at both ends of the pitch.

“He’ll be interested in the move because he wants to play in the Champions League.

“So if he’s going to leave Forest, Chelsea will be right in there as one of the contenders."

Chelsea's apparent interest in Gibbs-White should come as no surprise. He has had a stellar season with Nottingham Forest, registering 7 goals and 10 assists in 34 appearances in the Premier League.

He was one of the main reasons why Nottingham Forest almost made it to the Champions League qualifying spots last season. Ultimately, a final day defeat at home to Chelsea is what prevented them from creating history.

There have been suggestions that Nottingham Forest would want a transfer fee in the region of £90 million to sign Gibbs-White. But will Chelsea make a move of that magnitude for someone who would not even be a starter?

Truth be told, it is hard to predict what Chelsea will do. They have done a lot of things that don't make much sense on paper. So, all we can do is wait and watch.
