It feels like a never-ending cycle for Chelsea. Every summer, they end up signing a number of talented youngsters instead of going after proven players. Some of their signings end up impressing but for the most part, things have not worked out for the Blues, as evidenced by the performances and results.
Yet, it looks like Chelsea will stick to their transfer policy. Another talented English winger is on their radar with the futures of Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke in doubt.
Chelsea have been linked with Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund for a while now. And it looks like the club are already taking the first steps ahead of a possible move for the 20-year-old winger. Also, it looks like a potential swap deal could be a possibility.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Christian Falk informed in his latest Fact Files column:
"I have heard that Chelsea are still very interested in Jamie Gittens. His former youth coach at Cobham is said to have already made contact with him.
“There is an idea at the club to swap him for Chukwuemeka. So, there might be a swap deal to be made."
Chelsea make contact with English winger and eyeing swap offer
Gittens is enjoying his breakout season at Borussia Dortmund. He has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions so far in the 24/25 campaign.
Chukwuemeka might have impressed many Chelsea fans with his displays for the Blues but opportunities were rare for him since the arrival of Enzo Maresca as manager. He was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund earlier this year and there have been suggestions that the German club might be interested in making his stay permanent.
Thus, there could be a deal to be done here, although it is hard to imagine that Chelsea would be able to agree on a straight swap deal. In the past, there have been suggestions that Borussia Dortmund could be looking for as much as €100 million to part with Gittens. Do not expect the Blues to offer anywhere close to that figure.
