Arsenal have a habit of signing players from Chelsea and it has only grown over time. In recent years, they have signed Kai Havertz, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Jorginho, as well as taking Raheem Sterling on loan last season. In the past, the likes of Petr Cech, David Luiz, Willian, William Gallas and several more have made the move.
This summer, Arsenal have taken an interest in Noni Madueke. The England international winger has been with Chelsea since early 2023 and was a consistent starter for the Blues last season.
Yet, Pedro Neto is ahead of him in the pecking order right now. And with Estevao set to arrive after the Club World Cup, the writing might be on the wall for him. As a result, it is not hard to understand why Madueke is rumoured to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal. On the other hand, it looks like the Blues have their own plans.
As reported by Orazio Accomando, the negotiation between Arsenal and Chelsea is not just about the potential transfer of Madueke. The Blues have requested Ethan Nwaneri in exchange.
Chelsea make ambitious Noni Madueke swap offer to Arsenal
Nwaneri is one of the brightest talents in the Premier League. That being said, do Chelsea need another similar player when they already have Neto, Estevao and Kendry Paez on their books?
It is believed that Arsenal would look for £10 million on top if such a swap deal is to take place. It remains to be seen whether the speculation is accurate or not.
There are Chelsea fans who feel the timing is not right to part ways with Madueke. Estevao needs to be given time to adjust to English football upon his arrival. But if he has a significant role in the team from the get-go, and the pressure to deliver that comes with it, his long-term development could be hampered.
