Chelsea have been linked with quite a few centre-backs in recent times, as it is clearly an area where they need to strengthen as soon as possible. That has led to a variety of targets being in the headlines regarding a potential move to Stamford Bridge. That includes defenders entering their twilight, like Antonio Rudiger, as well as those on the rise, like Murillo.

Murillo is not the only Brazilian centre-back to be linked with Chelsea though. It looks like a talent from Gremio has caught their eye as well.

Chelsea have a reputation for signing some of the best young talents in world football since their change in ownership. The likes of Estevao, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer have made their presence felt at the club already. And at least a few among the likes of Kendry Paez, Mike Penders, Geovany Quenda, Dastan Satpaev and Deinner Ordonez are expected to play roles in the future.

Now, as reported by AS, Chelsea and Manchester United have already begun negotiations and have made contacts that should result in an offer for Luis Eduardo of Gremio in the coming weeks. His release clause is €60 million.

Eduardo was a regular starter for Brazil at the recent U-17 World Cup, as they finished fourth. Remarkably, the standout aspect of his game might be his incredible speed.

He reached a speed of 38 km/h in the round of 16 in a game against RB Bragantino. Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United have taken notice and could make their offers in the near future.

Of course, his release clause is €60 million. But it is hard to imagine that either Chelsea or Manchester United would be open to offering anywhere close to that figure for a player with just one senior appearance so far.
