Chelsea are known to bring in the best young talents from around the world of football. We saw them reap the reward of that strategy against Barcelona. Estevao is proving to be a rising star since making the move to London in the summer from Palmeiras. But their next transfer target might be much closer to home.
Arsenal have a record of producing some of the best talents in the Premier League. But with the amount of signings that they have made in recent times, some of them are bound to get lost in the shuffle.
That seems to be happening with Myles Lewis-Skelly at the moment. He has not started a single Premier League game this season. That must be disappointing to someone who did so well in the previous campaign and had started 15 of their last 23 games in the league and all four matches against Real Madrid and PSG.
He is still 19 years of age, but nobody likes to take a backward step in their development. Could it lead to a move away from Arsenal in the future? And if so, does it open the door for Chelsea to swoop in?
Chelsea now pushing to sign Arsenal player out of nowhere
It looks like Chelsea are looking to take advantage of Lewis-Skelly's situation at Arsenal. As reported by Football FanCast, Simon Phillips wrote in his Substack:
""Our Arsenal source says that Chelsea are now being ‘aggressive and bold’ in their attempts to convince the Gunners star to head to Chelsea.
Lewis-Skelly is determined to make it at Arsenal, but could Chelsea end up tempting him now? Time will tell."
This might be a bit too early to convince Lewis-Skelly to leave Arsenal. But if this lack of game time continues for the entire campaign then he might start reconsidering his future at the club.
Of course, if Chelsea were to sign Lewis-Skelly, it is hard to imagine that they would have a starting role for him straight off the bat either. Marc Cucurella is arguably the best left-back in football right now and still just 27.
Lewis-Skelly can play in defensive midfield as well though. And there is uncertainty around the future of Romeo Lavia as he continues to struggle to remain fit.
