So far, Chelsea have not been active at all in the ongoing winter transfer window. That does not mean that there are no areas of improvement in this current squad. The truth could not be farther from that. The Blues have a lot of gaps on their roster that need to be filled as soon as possible. But will they go out and do it? That is the bigger question.
Liam Rosenior started off his run as Chelsea manager with a 5-1 win over Charlton. But a much tougher test lies ahead as his side will face the in-form Arsenal next.
It remains to be seen how that game will play out for Rosenior's side. Whatever way it goes, the fans will be hoping that a few additions are made to the squad this winter.
The midfield is one of Chelsea's strong suits at the moment. Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been consistent starters since arriving in 2023. Andrey Santos is also someone who has shown a ton of potential, and actually has experience of working with Rosenior during his time away on loan at Strasbourg, which should help him. But Romeo Lavia's constant injury problems have been a worry for the club for quite some time now. Could they end up signing a midfielder this winter?
Chelsea offered chance to sign 28-year-old Portuguese international
As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that Ruben Neves has been offered to the Blues by his agent:
"SPTC Sources have heard that agent Jorge Mendes has offered Ruben Neves to Chelsea this month."
Neves is a full Portugal international who currently plays for Al-Hilal. But he is no stranger to the Premier League either.
The 28-year-old spent six years on the books at Wolves, making more than 250 appearances for the club. He is now in his third season with Al-Hilal, and it looks like he is eyeing the exit door now. Could Chelsea turn out to be his next destination?
