BlueCo seem to be proponents of the multi-club model. We have already seen them put that to good and extensive use with a number of players making moves between Chelsea and Strasbourg in recent years. Earlier, there had been talks about them investing in a Portuguese team next but now, it appears that they might have shifted their sights towards Brazil.
Chelsea have some top Brazilian talents on their hands right now. Joao Pedro and Estevao have arrived this summer, while Andrey Santos has been on their books for a while but has only been integrated into the first-team recently after an excellent loan season at Strasbourg.
Chelsea have had to pay significant transfer fees to bring them to the club though? But what if they could unearth these talents earlier? Having a club in Brazil as part of the BlueCo model would help ensure that. And it appears that they might have a legendary team on their radar.
As reported by Lucas Musetti (via DataFut), BlueCo, owner of Chelsea and Strasbourg, are one of the interested parties in Santos. In July, there was a meeting between the president of Santos and members of the multi-club group in the United States. At this time, they are just conversations.
Chelsea owners BlueCo now in talks to buy legendary club
We have already seen Chelsea reap the benefits of Strasbourg being under the BlueCo umbrella. It allows them to send youngsters on loan to the French club and help them develop in a top five European league.
Of course, the aims of investing in a club like Santos would be very different. It would be more about not missing out on rising Brazilian talents.
It remains to be seen if the talks with Santos end up going anywhere or not. Legendary players like Pele and Neymar came through the club's ranks. So, if BlueCo are successful, it would be an immense acquisition.
