Chelsea player ratings in the Premier League vs Ipswich Town (4-2-3-1)

Robert Sánchez – 4.5/10

Started shakily, gifting possession to Ipswich under no pressure. Was unable to effectively deal with either goal. Just another unconvincing game from him.

Trevoh Chalobah – 5/10

Struggled to contain Ipswich’s attacking players. Was caught out for the second goal and looked uncomfortable both at right-back and after moving to centre-back.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 5/10

Offered little in terms of support for the attack and struggled to keep Ipswich quiet. Substituted at half-time after a quiet first half.

Levi Colwill – 5/10

Could have done more to stop the low cross that led to Ipswich’s first goal. Won several aerial duels from set-pieces but failed to direct them goalwards. Defensively, found it difficult to assert control.

Marc Cucurella – 5.5/10

Was involved in both goals conceded, though he showed good determination in the build-up to the own goal. Contributed defensively but lacked attacking influence.

Enzo Fernández – 6.5/10

Missed several opportunities to shoot or find better-positioned teammates. However, displayed energy and determination throughout the midfield battle.

Moisés Caicedo – 6.5/10

Had a limited role in Chelsea’s attacking play but worked hard to break up Ipswich’s moves in central areas.

Noni Madueke – 6/10

Made a bright start with a few early shots but couldn’t make the most of a key opportunity later in the half. Played a part in the lead-up to the own goal before being substituted.

Cole Palmer – 6.5/10

Not at his influential best, though he did register an assist for Sancho’s equalizer. Had a couple of chances himself but couldn’t find the target.

Pedro Neto – 5.5/10

Delivered some promising crosses in the second half but wasn’t able to influence the scoreline. Missed a few chances with unconvincing efforts.

Nicolas Jackson – 5.5/10

Hit the post early but struggled to link up with his teammates in the final third. Found it difficult to anticipate crosses and get into goal-scoring positions.

Sub: Malo Gusto – 5.5/10 (on 46' for Tosin Adarabioyo)

Involved more than Chalobah had been in the first half from right back. However, Maresca’s continued use of him in an inverted role seems to be limiting his effectiveness.

Sub: Jadon Sancho – 7/10 (on 68' for Noni Madueke)

Made an immediate impact, scoring a well-taken equalizer when others were struggling to find a breakthrough.

Sub: Christopher Nkunku – 5/10 (on 87' for Nicolas Jackson)

Had minimal time to make an impact after coming on late.

Manager: Enzo Maresca – 4/10

Failing to beat a side sitting 18th in the table will raise further questions about Maresca’s tactical decisions. Chelsea remains in the top five largely due to the poor form of others, but their own performances suggest that position may not last. His decision to bring on Sancho was a positive move, but persistent issues, such as starting Sánchez and continuing with the inverted full-back setup, are proving costly.
