There are quite a few players who might be looking to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. Some of them have never been in Enzo Maresca's plans and are not even part of the first-team squad at the moment. But then, there are those who are involved but not enough to keep them satisfied at Stamford Bridge.

In the summer, one of the boldest decisions Chelsea made was allowing Nicolas Jackson to join Bayern Munich despite knowing that Liam Delap had picked up a long-term injury. And in order to fill that gap, Marc Guiu was brought back from his loan spell at Sunderland.

The expectation was that Guiu would get some decent playing time as the backup option to Joao Pedro. But unfortunately, that has not been the case, with Maresca often overlooking the former Barcelona man and even playing Tyrique George at striker ahead of him.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Guiu is eyeing a dramatic January return to Sunderland. He is becoming increasingly fed up with the lack of game time at Chelsea. The Spaniard was particularly frustrated at being overlooked in favour of George in the game against Benfica.

To be very honest, it is not hard to understand why Guiu might be unhappy with Maresca's decision-making. The Spaniard was expected to play a lot more football at Sunderland.

If Maresca did not have him in his plans and is not looking to play him often, why was he recalled in the first place? Was it the coach's decision or one made the club that the Italian is now having to make the most out of?

Those are the questions that we have to be asking when it comes to this Guiu situation. It remains to be seen if his playing time does increase over the coming weeks and months. He did make his first appearance of the campaign since returning to Chelsea, being brought on as a substitute against Liverpool.
