There has been very little stability in the Chelsea squad since the change in ownership. Every summer, it feels like a game of trial and error. Multiple players are brought in while several others head in the opposite direction. One can only wonder how long this will continue until the Blues have a settled squad.

It looks like this summer there could be changes in defence. Two of their high-profile centre-backs appear to have been made available for transfer.

As reported by Football Insider, Chelsea will accept offers for Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi this summer. Both could head out after the Club World Cup.

Interestingly, both were signed from AS Monaco. Badiashile was brought in for a transfer fee in the region of €37 million while Disasi was signed for around €45 million. It would be safe to say that neither signing has worked out for Chelsea and now, they can only expect a fraction of those figures for their exits.

At this point in time, Chelsea appear to have only one settled centre-back. That is Levi Colwill. Even he has had his ups and downs, but finished the season strong and might finally be growing into his role. He scored the goal against Nottingham Forest that secured their place in the Champions League.

Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo have had some good moments as well but overall, they look like squad players rather than starters. Hopefully, the Blues will keep them around.

As for Wesley Fofana, there is no doubt about his talent. But the reality is that he spends most of his time on the sidelines, with one injury or another. Over his three seasons since joining Chelsea, he has made only 34 appearances. So, if a good offer arrives on their table, the Blues must accept it.
