Newcastle United are top four competition for Chelsea right now. As a result, the Blues should not entertain the idea of strengthening the Magpies over the summer. Yet, that is not how the club have done business since the change in ownership. Kai Havertz joined Arsenal, Mason Mount moved to Manchester United, Mateo Kovacic ended up at Manchester City, the list goes on.
It looks like Chelsea are open to the idea of a player joining Newcastle United this summer. But it remains to be seen if the Magpies are willing to meet the Blues' asking price.
One area that has been a problem for Chelsea in recent years is their central defence. Wesley Fofana was supposed to be the future at centre-back but he can't seem to stay fit for any considerable length of time. On the other hand, other signings like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi have failed to meet expectations.
Newcastle United are believed to be interested in Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. As reported by L'Equipe (via Metro), Chelsea want €30 million for the 27-year-old defender, a figure that is putting off potential suitors.

It is very clear that Disasi does not have much of a future at Chelsea. He was a Mauricio Pochettino signing but did not particularly impress last season either although he was involved a lot more and made 44 appearances.
Right now, the likes of Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah seem to be comfortably ahead of him in the pecking order. And Chelsea are expected to add another centre-back to their ranks.
They have been linked with players like Marc Guehi, Mario Gila, Jarrad Branthwaite and more lately. The Blues were also believed to be the frontrunners for Dean Huijsen before his move to Real Madrid.
