There is a lot of activity around Chelsea right now as they try to get deals over the line in time for the Club World Cup campaign. They have already signed Liam Delap, while also announcing a couple of arrivals that had already been agreed beforehand. At the same time, it is believed that the Blues are working on deals for players like Mike Maignan of AC Milan and Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund.
Will they be able to get these deals done in time? We shall find out soon. There has been speculation in Italy that an agreement has been reached for Maignan. Let's see how accurate that proves to be.
On the other hand, there does seem to be some gap in transfer valuation when it comes to Gittens. However, that deal does not seem to be out of reach either, especially considering the winger had dropped out of the Borussia Dortmund starting XI and might not be the right fit for their new manager's style of football.
There is some activity in terms of exits at Stamford Bridge as well. As reported by The Athletic, Chelsea expect to finalise talks soon and agree for Marcus Bettinelli to join Manchester City in time for the Club World Cup. The Citizens want him as their third-choice keeper with Scott Carson leaving.
Chelsea ready to let player join Premier League rivals
Bettinelli is not a key player on the pitch for the Blues. But he is a popular member in the dressing room. So, his exit would not be ideal.
That being said, if the player himself wants to leave, then it would be best to respect his wishes. Let's see if he does end up getting a move to Manchester City.
As for Chelsea, they do have a bit of a congested goalkeeper situation. Especially if Maignan comes in this summer. Surely, a few keepers would have to leave in that scenario.
