Argentina are the reigning world champions and it should not come as a surprise that Chelsea have a number of Argentine players in their squad right now, as they look to build a team for the future. Enzo Fernandez is one of their most important players and an ever-present in the middle of the park even though he has had his fair share of critics over the years. He seems to have raised his game in recent weeks in the absence of Cole Palmer though and deserves his fair share of credit.
On the other hand, Chelsea signed Alejandro Garnacho in the summer from Manchester United and after a slow start, he is finding his stride as well and in his last four outings, he has as many goal contributions. The club also have Facundo Buonanotte, although only on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Chelsea still need to add a few things to their squad before they can seriously start challenging for the Premier League. One of them is a consistent goalscorer. The latest name they are being linked with will excite the supporters though.
As reported by Fichajes, Chelsea are preparing a €150 million bid to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. Fernandez will help the club by trying to convince his national teammate to return to the Premier League.
Chelsea readying €150m bid for Argentine superstar
Alvarez already has tasted success in England with Manchester City. But he was never going to be the main man upfront for them ahead of Erling Haaland.
He has shown his quality as a striker since leaving for Atletico Madrid though. Alvarez has scored 38 goals for them in 72 games so far. And this output has come at a time when Diego Simeone's side are going through a low point.
So, Alvarez could be an excellent signing for Chelsea. He has shown the ability to score consistent goals at all levels as well as the versatility to play in multiple roles to fit the needs of the team. The Blues cannot ask for much more.
