Lunin's best performances for the La Liga giants came in the 2023/24 season, when he replaced Courtois in goal after the latter sustained an ACL injury. His contributions were critical in helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and La Liga double that year. In the process, he proved that he is a top goalkeeper in his own right. However, he has been criticised for his poor form in recent times.
The 26-year-old Ukrainian international is believed to be unhappy with his current role in the squad. A move to Chelsea could get him the starting role that he desires.
