It looks like Chelsea could be looking to ring in a few changes, having stayed put in the same place for quite a while now. Their performances at the start of this season have made two things clear. First is the importance of Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill to this team, which has become even more evident in their absence through injury. Second is that the Club World Cup win might have only papered over cracks that have always existed under the new ownership.
So, it might be time to change things up a bit. We have already seen that the club are open to letting first-team players go if the right offer comes in, as was the case with Noni Madueke's move to Arsenal this summer. Now, a regular starter seems to be a possible departure in the future as well.
Once upon a time, Enzo Fernandez was viewed as Chelsea's marquee signing who was expected to turn around their fortunes. But now, it looks like the club are open to the idea of him leaving.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for Fernandez. Real Madrid are genuinely interested in signing the Argentine World Cup winner.
Chelsea reportedly ready to listen to offers for £107m player
Fernandez's time at Chelsea has been interesting for sure. Early on, it had looked like he was a midfielder capable of dictating a game from the middle of the park while also providing a spark of creativity at the same time.
His role has transformed since then though. Right now, he has become one of Chelsea's most reliable contributors in terms of goals and assists.
But in doing so, his overall quality seems to have taken a hit. He is no longer dictating games like he used to. On the other hand, when it comes to providing goals and assists from midfield, perhaps there are better options out there than Fernandez, even though he has done well enough in that role.
So, all things considered, it looks like Chelsea might open the exit door for Fernandez if the right offer comes in. Real Madrid have been linked with him, going back to his time at Benfica. Incidentally, the Blues are believed to hold some interest in Eduardo Camavinga.
