When Chelsea assembled the front three, recently named JP Morgan of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, many expected those three to work well together, not just down to Palmer and Rogers' off-field friendship, but also how on the pitch they're all so interchangeable.
But today's 5-1 demolition of Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge possibly bumped this trio of attackers higher up the list of the best in the Premier League, with Joao Pedro grabbing two goals, bringing his tally up to five for the Premier League season, as well as Palmer and Rogers both getting an assist each.
In terms of importance to Chelsea, Pedro, Palmer, and Rogers have scored 11 of the Blues' 15 Premier League goals so far this season, meaning they've contributed to 73 per cent of Chelsea's goals in the competition after today.
When it comes to the other comparable front threes in the league that could compete with Chelsea, their main rivals, such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, all typically play in a 4-2-3-1 formation, having a number 10, as well as two wingers and a striker.
Whereas Chelsea set up with a three at the back, and having the wing backs bombing forward, but going forward usually have Rogers and Palmer play behind Joao Pedro, with Palmer and Rogers' skillset it means both can drift out wide, providing the width if the wing backs come inside to support the midfield.
Looking into the other competitors, obviously Manchester City has Haaland and will always put out consistent numbers every season, alongside players like Cherki and Semenyo; some might say their three is better than the Blues'. When looking at Liverpool's attackers, the only player this season who has similar output to Joao Pedro is Isak, who has four Premier League goals, but the others around him have little to no returns this season.
