As one of the most expensive signings in world football history, Kepa Arrizabalaga never lived up to the hype. With so much hope promised, the Spanish goalkeeper never reached the heights of his potential at Chelsea. Losing his position to Edouard Mendy became the beginning of the end for Kepa and his time on the pitch became limited.

After a mediocre loan spell at European giants Real Madrid, there was little to no hope for a renewed chance at the major club. However, a new lease of life was given to him at Bournemouth, and he has recaptured his former self that was once evident at Athletic Club Bilbao. Has he done enough for a second chance at Stamford Bridge?

Thibaut Courtois’ controversial exit from Chelsea left the Blues in limbo. With no first-choice goalkeeper to replace the Belgian shot stopper, the club agreed a record-breaking deal with Athletic Bilbao to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on a seven year deal.
