Deals That Fell Through
Aaron Anselmino – Signed from Boca Juniors in August 2024 and immediately loaned out, Anselmino was recalled in January with plans for a new loan to Olympique Marseille. However, the move collapsed as Chelsea approached the limit for international loans, and Maresca opted to retain the young Argentine defender.
Christopher Nkunku – Nkunku’s Chelsea career has yet to take off due to injuries and limited game time. The French forward expressed a desire to leave, and Bayern Munich engaged in preliminary talks. However, Chelsea’s reported €70 million valuation deterred the German champions. Manchester United also emerged as a rumored destination, but no formal negotiations took place, ensuring Nkunku remains at Stamford Bridge until at least the summer.
