Leicester’s Struggles & Historical Woes in London
Leicester City arrive in dire form, having lost 11 of their last 12 league matches, including four consecutive defeats without scoring. Their defensive frailties have been particularly alarming, conceding at least twice in each of those losses. Another heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge would see the Foxes lose five straight league matches by a margin of two or more goals for the first time since December 1930.
Van Nistelrooy’s side have also struggled historically in West London, winning just once in their last 11 visits to Chelsea. Adding to their misery, they became the first team in English top-flight history to lose six consecutive home games without scoring in a single season following a 4-0 thrashing by Brentford, followed by a 2-0 defeat at West Ham.
Despite their struggles, the Dutchman remains in charge for now, but with the Foxes in freefall, pressure continues to mount. Given the challenge of facing Chelsea away, however, this fixture is unlikely to define his immediate future.
