It would be safe to say that Chelsea have faced a lot of criticism for their transfer policy under the new ownership. For good reason as well. If you spend over a billion pounds and are not challenging for the Premier League and the Champions League on a consistent basis, there are bound to be questions about the strategy.

The Blues do have a base in place to build upon though. Players like Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Estevao and a few others can be part of an elite squad.

There are some issues which need to be addressed though, before this team can take the next step in their development. And Chelsea need to show the courage to make those changes, instead of continuously signing youngsters and remaining stuck in the same place. For the past three years, it has been about the future. At some point, it will have to be about right here and now.

Julian Alvarez is the kind of player who can help Chelsea take that next step. And they might already have someone who could help them sign the Argentine.

The Chelsea Chronicle have suggested in an opinion piece that the club should offer Nicolas Jackson in a swap deal for Alvarez. Atletico Madrid are expected to demand a huge transfer fee and this could help bring that figure down.

Jackson is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich and he has been in and out of the team. That should not come as any surprise considering they already have Harry Kane, the best striker in the world alongside Erling Haaland.

In fact, it was interesting how adamant Jackson was about getting the move to Bayern Munich. Most fans always felt that he was going to struggle getting into the team and that is exactly what has happened.

Bayern Munich are believed to have an obligation to buy in the loan deal but it only becomes active if he starts a certain number of games. And at this point, it is pretty clear that he won't meet that mark.

That being said, he does have a lot of qualities as well and could be a world-class striker himself if he can get his finishing on point. Jackson is proven in La Liga from his time at Villarreal, so perhaps there is a chance that Atletico Madrid might want him.
