Nicolas Jackson is back in the spotlight, but once again for the wrong reasons, as he received a straight red card in Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Flamengo at the Club World Cup. This incident has once again highlighted the player’s lack of composure, which is a growing concern for both the Blues and their fans.

Chelsea signed the Senegalese forward from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 for an estimated fee of £32 million. In his debut season, the forward scored 17 goals for the club but has taken a noticeable step back this season, managing just 13 goals. So, it’s fair to say that Jackson’s time at Chelsea hasn’t gone as expected, as he has failed to truly establish himself in the Royal Blue jersey.

The club was facing a dilemma over whether to give the Senegal international another chance or part ways with the player. However, owing to an underwhelming season and his recent performances, the Blues appear to have taken a firm decision regarding Jackson’s future at Chelsea.

It looks like they have decided to listen to offers for the player and have reportedly even set an asking price. According to Fabrizio Romano (via The Chelsea Chronicle):

"What I can say at the moment as of June 21st, Chelsea is asking a high price for Jackson because I am told he has interest from the Premier League, we are talking above £47-£51m (€55-60m). A possible departure for Jackson? Yes it’s possible, but in Italy it would only happen if Chelsea change their price."

Jackson has a long-term contract with Chelsea until 2033, which gives the Blues a major advantage in negotiations over any departure. The player has reportedly already attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, as well as Serie A sides like Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have successfully signed Liam Delap as their new number nine. However, they are still looking for a versatile striker to complement the newly arrived youngster.

With Jackson’s departure now looking increasingly likely, the club is expected to fast-track their search for another forward. They have been linked with the likes of Randal Kolo Muani, Victor Osimhen and more in recent weeks.
