Over the past few years, Chelsea have made it very clear that they want to sign the best young talents from all across the globe. Estevao scored the winner against Liverpool recently, and fans will be hoping that he can reach his potential at Stamford Bridge. Other than that, they also have players like Jorrel Hato, Alejandro Garnacho and Andrey Santos. Kendry Paez and Mike Penders are on loan at Strasbourg while Geovany Quenda and Dastan Satpaev will join the club in the future.
That does not mean that Chelsea are planning to stop investing in youth anytime soon though. On the contrary, it looks like they have their next transfer target already on their mind.
Once again, it is someone who is being touted as a generational talent. At 16 years of age, he has already appeared three times for the Mexican national team and made 41 appearances for Club Tijuana, scoring seven goals in the process.
The player is none other than Gilberto Mora. And it has been suggested that the Blues are very keen on signing him. As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Graeme Bailey said:
"Every major club in Europe is keen on him, and Chelsea are very keen. Of all the English clubs, Chelsea are making his people know the most that they like him and he’s a huge talent.
“Mexicans think he’s the best 16-year-old in the world, and I’m speaking to a lot of scouts who do so as well. Chelsea have been to all the Mexican games in Chile."
Chelsea very interested in signing the 'best 16-year-old in the world'
Mora has certainly achieved a lot already for a player who is still just 16 years of age. In fact, he is shining especially bright at the ongoing U20 World Cup.
In three games, he has scored three times and provided an assist as well. That just shows how far ahead he might be of his peers in that age group. In fact, how often does a 16-year-old play at the U20 World Cup?
Do not be surprised if Chelsea make their move for Mora soon. Of course, signing him will not be an easy task. One would imagine that plenty of other teams around the world will be interested as well although the Blues do seem to have a brilliant track record of convincing youngsters that Stamford Bridge is the right place for their development.
