2. Getting Back to Winning Form
Before visiting Arsenal, Chelsea will play five matches in the league. Apart from Aston Villa, the other four fixtures should be relatively straightforward. However, as past experiences have shown, nothing is ever that simple.
After beating Brentford on December 16th, Chelsea faced a similar set of seemingly favorable fixtures. But the Blues failed to win any of their next five matches, picking up just three points from a possible 15. They went from trailing league leaders Liverpool by just two points to falling outside the top four. Much of that downturn was due to Enzo Maresca’s poor tactical decisions and reluctance to rotate his squad effectively.
Finishing inside the top four should be the minimum target for Chelsea this season, and they cannot afford to squander another good run of fixtures. With tougher matches looming after this stretch, capitalizing on these games is crucial.
