From his comments to the media after Levi Colwill's ACL injury, it was pretty clear that Enzo Maresca wanted Chelsea to sign another centre-back. But the club appeared to be confident in the options that they already had. But just a month into the season, it looks like their confidence might have been misplaced.

Chelsea have looked extremely shaky defensively at the moment. And while the development of Josh Acheampong was given as one of the reasons why they were not keen to sign another centre-back, he has managed to play in just one game so far.

So, that goes on to show that Chelsea made a mistake in the summer and might now be regretting it. So much so that there are already rumours of them wanting to sign centre-backs in the January transfer window.

As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, according to journalist Simon Phillips on his Substack, Bremer is on the radar at Stamford Bridge as the Blues consider making a move for the centre-back in January. Juventus won't want to part ways but it won't be a surprise to see the Premier League giants test the waters regardless.

Bremer is someone who had been linked with Chelsea years back, before he joined Juventus. Back then, he was at Torino and ultimately made a move to the Italian giants for around £45 million.

Bremer has been a starting centre-back for Juventus when fit and available. That being said, he has had his injury problems as well, only recovering from an ACL injury very recently.

So, Chelsea would be taking a major risk making any move for him. They already have a number of players who can be considered injury-prone and were so before their move to Stamford Bridge as well. Names like Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana come to mind. The Blues should not want to add to that list.
