After advancing past the Women's Champions League group stage, The Chelsea women will be facing an opponent that they are very familiar with in Manchester city. The Sky Blues recently defeated  Arsenal in the subway women's League Cup semi-final earlier this week and will also face Chelsea in the final after they cruised past West Ham.

These two titans of women's football will face each other four times next month, with the League Cup final, the two-legged Champions League tie, and awsl match up all scheduled to take place in March.  the League Cup Final is currently scheduled for March 15th, the WSL matchup is scheduled for March 23, and the two legs of the WCL to take place on March 18-19 and March 26-27.

The two sides could also very well face off in the Women’s FA Cup quarterfinal before any of these matches so it’s safe to say that they could be very sick of each other once the calendar turns to April. Chelsea have an excellent record against City in recent years with 10 wins, 7 draws, and 3 losses in their last 20 meetings.

Three of their last meetings have all been victories for the Blues but they have only faced each other once in the 2024-25 season. The last time City prevailed over Chelsea Women was back in March of 2023 in the WSL thanks to goals from Lauren Hemp and Filippa Angeldal. They also defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the 2022 League Cup Final so the Blues will be looking to avenge that lost trophy in their next scheduled matchup.

Just as Chelsea strengthened their squad in the January transfer window with the additions of Naomi Girma and Keira Walsh, City added to their already stacked team as well. They had one key departure in Chloe Kelly but made three huge additions in Laura Wienroither, Rebecca Knaak, and Kerolin to shore up their defense and attack.

These two clubs boast some of the most talented players in women’s football and every match between them feels like a major cup final. Now we get to see them go at it at least four times, and possibly five, in the month of March!
