Following a disappointing draw with Crystal Palace on the first day of the 2025–26 Premier League season, Chelsea were brilliant in their next game against West Ham United, securing a one-sided 5-1 win at London Stadium with five different players scoring. Up next for the Blues is a matchup against neighbours Fulham.

However, with only a few days remaining in the summer transfer window, the Blues still have some business left to do as well. They continue to look to say goodbye to more players in order to bring in their top two targets before the September 1 deadline.

These two targets are none other than RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons and Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho, who have been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the month. Both players are believed to be keen to be a part of the Blues and have reportedly agreed to personal terms with the club, but they need to clear up some squad space before making those moves.

The likes of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are believed to be the key to unlocking any further signings this summer. Let's see how things play out over the last week of the window.

As reported by Sky Sports, Jackson and Nkunku are both still training with the Chelsea first-team squad. That means they could be reintegrated quickly if they stay at the club. The Blues still want to sign Garnacho and Simons but signings are exit-dependent.

Of course, Nkunku's exit could end up having an impact on other clubs as well. It is believed that RB Leipzig view Harvey Elliot as a potential replacement for Simons. So, any move could have a far-reaching domino effect.

Multiple clubs are interested in signing Jackson and Nkunku, but there is not much time left. Will the Blues be able to get exits done before the window shuts?

Furthermore, if Chelsea can only sign one more player, who will they choose between Simons and Garnacho? At this moment, the arrival of the Manchester United winger might be more likely.
