Cole Palmer, the man who has been doing everything to make this Chelsea team fight for a good place and is currently resting owing to an injury blow, was recently asked about his preferred 5-a-side team and his picks are rather interesting to note.
He said, “Thibaut Courtois, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Ravel Morrison, and me.”
Of course, there are some very regular and popular names, but one of those stood out. The goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has seen some of the best moments of his career at Stamford Bridge, was the first undoubted pick for Palmer, constituting his best 5-a-side team, and there are obviously so many reasons to do that.
Cole Palmer names Chelsea and Real Madrid legend in his dream team
The Belgian goalkeeper spent nearly four seasons at Chelsea and made about 126 Premier League appearances for the Blues, and that period was perhaps the most secure this team has been in recent history between the bars.
The true weight of his greatness sets in when you realise that his period at Chelsea, despite all the solidity, was still not the best he performed in his career.
His time at Real Madrid was initially marked with some uncertainty, but over the years he has become so important that Los Blancos even bent their age-old contract renewal rule for Courtois.
The most stellar was his 2017/18 season with Chelsea when he played a humongous 46 games for the club and made 107 saves throughout the season with a save percentage of about 70%. That is so decent, which is why Real Madrid picked him soon after, where he has gone on to win multiple Champions Leagues and other laurels.
Courtois’ time at Chelsea is an example for youngsters who lack resilience and patience in their careers. The Belgian was not the best in the world when Chelsea signed him, which is why he spent 3 seasons at Atletico Madrid with lots of ups and downs before slowly recovering his form and coming back to Stamford Bridge to become a regular.
He then went on to do even better and landed at arguably the biggest club in the world. He is now easily the best goalkeeper in the world, though he does not get highlighted enough.
He made a name for himself both at Chelsea and Real Madrid. We know Cole Palmer is a baller, but he also knows ball. This 5-a-side team is a brilliant make.
