It would be safe to say that Crystal Palace made a good move when they signed Marc Guehi from Chelsea. They got a future club captain who would go on to guide them to their first-ever major trophy. But now, it looks like the England international is keen on an exit. In fact, everything had been agreed with Liverpool but a deal fell through at the last minute.
Since then, it has been claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing him in January, after seeing how badly their defence has performed at the start of this season. On the other hand, it looks like Crystal Palace are already preparing for life after Guehi.
Once again, they have their eyes set on a highly-rated Chelsea defender. And one can only hope that the Blues do not repeat the mistake that they made by parting ways with Guehi.
As reported by The Sun, Crystal Palace are searching for a replacement. Ousmane Diomande is on their radar and Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong is also being tracked.
Crystal Palace want Chelsea player as Marc Guehi's replacement
Let's see what the future holds for Acheampong. To be very honest, it would not come as a surprise, if he wants to leave the club in a future transfer window.
For some reason, Maresca has been reluctant to hand him chances this season, despite Chelsea's lack of quality at the back. The likes of Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah and others have continued to play ahead of Acheampong despite their poor performances.
Many might have forgotten but there was a contract standoff between Chelsea and Acheampong not too long ago. And if his playing time does not increase soon, he might start to push for a move away from Stamford Bridge once again, with multiple clubs believed to be interested.
