The defending five-time Women's Super League champions, Chelsea, are set to host Manchester City this Saturday at Stamford Bridge. Both teams are unbeaten this season and occupy the top two spots in the league table. This weekend also marks a historic milestone, as, for the first time, all matches in the WSL and Championship will be held at the club's main stadiums in the same week.

Under the leadership of Sonia Bompastor, Chelsea heads into this match second in the league, having played one game fewer than Manchester City, who currently lead the standings. Unlike the Citizens, Chelsea has won all their league matches so far. Since Bompastor was appointed manager, the Blues have maintained a perfect record across all competitions, including preseason and the Women’s Champions League.

The toughest test for Chelsea so far this season came during their trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal. Historically unable to secure a win at the venue, the Blues broke that streak in October. They arrive at Stamford Bridge after another significant victory in the league— a 3-0 win away at Liverpool, their first away win in that fixture since 2019. These results highlight the impressive impact Bompastor has made since succeeding Emma Hayes.

Succeeding a manager with Emma Hayes’ legacy would never be easy, but Bompastor has done a terrific job so far. However, it hasn’t been without challenges.
