Enzo Fernandez could leave Chelsea but only on one condition

It has felt like Chelsea have been in a transition period ever since BlueCo took charge of the club in 2022, and that's because they have been.

Despite spending north of £1 billion on signings since taking over from Roman Abrahamovic nearly four years ago, BlueCo, led by US billionaire Todd Boehly, are determined to plough even more money into the squad.

Although fans love to see large investment, it can come at more than one price. Not only does such large spending heap the pressure on staff, but it also makes settling in difficult for the playing squad.

And with talk of a high profile departure emerging, Chelsea could be in for another busy summer transfer window.

Enzo Fernandez linked with early Chelsea exit

Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea three years ago in a then-record £106.8 million transfer from Benfica off the back of an amazing World Cup-winning tournament with Argentina.

The 25-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge viewed as one of the sport's most highly rated midfielders. Although it took the South American some time to bed into life in the notoriously fast paced and physical Premier League, he has undoubtedly formed a solid partnership with Moises Caicedo.

The pair are two of the team's most played players with Fernandez now just one game away from making his 160th appearance for the club.

However, despite Fernandez being under contract until 2032 there are whispers he could be open to moving on, and according to a recent report from TyC Sports, there is 'a chance' the Argentine leaves this summer, but only for a mammoth fee.

Chelsea under no pressure to sell

Under no pressure to sell, Chelsea will know they're in full control when it comes to deciding the 25-year-old's future.

Not only is the midfielder under contract for another six years, but yet to reach his prime, his value remains high.

There are only a handful of clubs in the world who could realistically afford the former Benfica star, and so far, none of have shown any sort of genuine interest.

While it remains to be seen just how much Fernandez himself wants a move, the midfielder will know the ball is very much in his club's court. Forcing a move could prove disastrous, so fans will expect him to keep his head down and continue to prove why BlueCo invested so much in him when they did.

During his three years in London, Fernandez, who reportedly earns £180,000-per week, has scored 28 goals and registered 29 assists in 159 matches in all competitions.
