Although Lionel Messi once again took all the headlines after becoming the player to score the most-ever World Cup goals, huge credit must also go to Enzo Fernandez.
Messi's brace against Austria on Monday saw the superstar topple Miroslav Klose's record of 16 World Cup goals.
Naturally, Messi's latest performance is hot on the lips of every football fan around the world, but Fernandez's influence in how the country have done in their first two matches should not go unnoticed.
Enzo Fernandez key to Argentina reaching World Cup knockout rounds
The 25-year-old, named in Lionel Scaloni's final 26-man squad, reignited his partnership with Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister at the heart of Argentina's midfield.
Fernandez has started in both of his country's first two group games and was just as influencial in both.
He was unlucky not to set Lautaro Martinez up in the first few minutes against Algeria before the Inter Milan striker was clattered into. The Chelsea midfielder's through ball did result in Argentina being awarded a penalty, though.
Fernandez was just as impactful all game. He probably should have scored himself but credit must go to goalkeeper Luca Zidane for his quick reaction save.
Playing the full 90 minutes, Fernandez's role in Argentina's group opener saw the nation claim a convincing 3-0 victory.
Their next match was then against Austria — a potential banana skin — and Fernandez once again performed superbly well.
The 25-year-old recorded a match rating of 7.2 on Sofascore, largely due to his range of passing which included completing 31 out of 32 passes in the final third.
There also several key defensive actions Chelsea's number eight performed against Austria. The former Benfica man recovered the ball a whopping seven times and won most of his ground and aerial duels.
Overall, Fernandez put in a solid midfield performance and one the Blues will be satisfied with following their mega £120 million valuation amid interest from Real Madrid.
Fernandez's performance, combined with Messi's incredible brace during an emphatic 2-0 victory, has seen Argentina — taking six points from a possible six — qualify for the World Cup's Last 32 knockout stage.
The 2022 World champions will clinch top spot in Group J if Jordan fail to defeat Algeria later on Tuesday.
As things stand, the winners of Group J will face the runners-up from Group H — currently Uruguay — in the next round.
