Chelsea had a successful 2024-25 season. The club finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League. And that’s not all, as the Blues also won the UEFA Conference League and defeated a seemingly unstoppable Paris Saint-Germain in the final to be crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions.

Last campaign could definitely go down as the turning point for Chelsea, as it ended their trophy drought following the ownership change. Pretty much everybody played their part well in the success, although the role of Enzo Maresca also cannot be overstated.

It was the first season for the Italian manager at Chelsea, and he showed why the club trusted him with the job in the first place. The fans certainly hope that Maresca will continue to be at the helm of this Blues ship for the foreseeable future. However, it looks like that might not be guaranteed if recent reports are to be believed.

According to TeamTalk, there have been murmurs of Maresca not being entirely happy at Chelsea because of the Blues’ failure to satisfy a key transfer demand in the summer of 2025 and an exit cannot be completely ruled out. Meanwhile, Juventus are now said to be interested in the manager, with the Italian tactician seen as a serious candidate to take charge of the Turin-based club in the future.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea future in doubt with Serie A club interested in the manager

Before taking over at Chelsea, Maresca served as assistant manager to Pep Guardiola and Manuel Pellegrini. Additionally, he was the manager of Leicester City during the 2023–24 season.

Since joining Chelsea, Maresca has taken charge of 74 games and won 46 of them, according to SofaScore. This season, under his leadership, the Blues have had a mixed start to the campaign, although the team has been finding some form lately, even defeating the defending Premier League champions Liverpool.

During the last transfer window, Maresca requested a new centre-back following the injury to Levi Colwill, but the club management decided to trust the current players and did not bring anyone in. This may have contributed to his frustration, if the rumours are indeed on the mark.

However, despite this, it’s hard to imagine that the issue will prompt the manager to leave Chelsea, where he has already found success. The coming months will certainly be crucial in deciding whether the manager stays or leaves. One way or another, Maresca seems to be focused on the current season which is a good sign and important if he wishes to match, or even surpass, the success of his previous campaign with the Blues.
