Enzo Maresca on filling Marc Guiu's absence for the Conference league

With the Conference Cup schedule yet to be announced for the Blues, Enzo Maresca is already dealing with player injuries.

Guiu to be out for a 'little while'

Following the FA Cup round four game against Brighton, Maresca shared his insights on the transfer window and the players sidelined with injuries after the West Ham game on February 3rd, including Marc Guiu.

At the time, the Italian manager was unsure about the severity of the injury, but as days have passed, it appears Guiu could be out for the rest of the month as per reports, while Maresca continues to rule it out as ‘a little while’

With the next Conference League game potentially scheduled for the first week of March, the Blues will be hoping to have the Spanish center-forward back, as he is also Chelsea's top scorer in the competition.

The situation doesn’t help the manager, especially with the recent update that Nicolas Jackson will also be out for at least another month, possibly until after next month’s international break.

However, Maresca remains composed and has mentioned utilizing Christopher Nkunku while also exploring "other solutions" during the absence of the other two players.

Maresca spoke in regarding Christopher Nkuku's role in the absence of Jackson and Guiu after he decided to bring on the French international during the FA Cup game against Brighton.

"‘Christo could be one of the solutions, but it’s not the only solution. It can be Christo, as he played the last game, and also different kind of players. For sure when you don’t have a proper nine who can be a threat always, you have to change not only the nine, also a little bit the way you want to play...When you don’t have a proper nine, you probably need to use a different kind of nine, but also you have to change a little bit the way you want to play

Enzo Maresca will have to get creative with his striking options considering the natural players at the position will have to miss significant time. His best option after those players is on loan at AC Milan in Joao Felix so the manager will really have to earn his salary to help the Blues cope and secure a trophy in the Europa Conference League.
