Chelsea have signed a ton of youngsters in recent years. Some of them have already had a taste of first-team football at Stamford Bridge. Some are out on loan, hoping to find their feet at the senior level before making that jump. And quite a few are probably never going to get that chance. But even those who do, it is not guaranteed that they will last at Stamford Bridge.

It is no secret that Chelsea's recruitment strategy has divided the fanbase. The ownership has stuck to their ways though. But more than three years down the line, they seem no closer to challenging for the Premier League. In fact, they don't seem good enough to even make the top four.

The longer this continues, the higher the chances that Chelsea will rethink their philosophy. At least one would hope so.

One of the youngsters signed by Chelsea in recent times is Marc Guiu. But so far, the former Barcelona striker has not managed to convince that he is ready to lead the line for the Blues or ever will be. And now, he has been told that he might not have a long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Troy Deeney said while talking on The Football Exchange:

"Do I think he’ll have a very good career? Yes. But playing for Chelsea, I don’t think he’s got that level of killer finishing in him. And I don’t think he’s actually clean enough in his work that you would say you’ll be at Chelsea long term."

If Guiu is to make it at Chelsea, he will have to take his chance now. He scored in midweek against Ajax but followed that up with a poor performance against Sunderland in the 2-1 loss at the weekend.

The issue is, the only standout quality about Guiu is his willingness to relentlessly press the opposition. Now, it is a great trait to have. But you need a lot more to be successful as the main striker at Chelsea.

If you ask us, Chelsea need to go out and sign a proven goalscorer for a team that is used to facing low-blocks week in and week out. At the moment, they are just cycling through youngsters without the results improving. And they need to at a club of this size.
