Estevao potentially handed more bad news ahead of Chelsea return

Estevao was ruled out for Chelsea's Champions League Last 16 first-leg away to PSG on Wednesday evening. That might not be the end of his spell on the treatment table, as he could also miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

The Blues travelled to France to face Luis Enrique's holders in what was arguably their biggest, and toughest, match of the season.

Being the underdogs, Chelsea were not expected to beat the Parisians but few predicted they'd crumble in the manner they did.

Thumped 5-2, Liam Rosenior now has it all to do when the French champions visit London in a weeks' time.

And the Chelsea manager has been handed potentially more bad news with Estevao facing a race against time to be fit to feature in the reverse leg.

Estevao expected to miss Newcastle United clash

Estevao has not featured since the Blues' 3-2 win over West Ham at the end of January after picking up a hamstring injury late on.

And according to a recent report from ESPN Brasil, the 18-year-old will not feature against Newcastle United on the weekend, but could be in the mix to make his comeback against PSG the following week.

Brazil national manager Carlo Ancelotti is expected to call Estevao up for the country's two friendlies against France (March 26) and Croatia (April 1).

How close the the winger can get to full match fitness will determine how many minutes he gets while away on international duty though.

Estevao's absence a big blow with Pedro Neto underperforming

Although he enjoyed a rise in form earlier in the season, Pedro Neto has been a huge disappointment in recent weeks.

Neto has failed to make an impact in the team's last few matches. His misfiring is far from ideal considering every match from now until the end of the season needs to be viewed as a cup final.

Not only has Neto failed to register a single goal or assist in his last three outings, but he was also shown a red card for a poor tackle on Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli during the Gunners' 3-2 win at the start of the month.

With limited options on the right flank, Rosenior will be itching to have the personel available to mix things up a bit.

And when it comes to Estevao, the teenager will be chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch.

Following his debut last August, our number 41 has so far proven to be unaffected by the expectations placed on his young shoulders, and with Rosenior's attack stagnating, the teenager's return can not come soon enough.
