Turkish giants Fenerbahce have strongly denied any suggestions they're looking to sign Jamie Gittens from Chelsea.
Gittens endured a tough opening season at Stamford Bridge last time out. The 22-year-old suffered a series of unfortunate injuries which led to him starting just five Premier League matches.
As a result, it has been speculated the young Englishman could move abroad, but these latest reports appear to have been quashed by one of the clubs linked.
Fenerbahce release Jamies Gittens statement
Fenerbahce have been busy this summer. The 19-time Turkish Super Liga champions have already made six signings, including bringing in Mason Greenwood from Marseille.
And recent reports from Turkish outlets claimed Gittens was likely next in line to move to the Chobani Stadium.
However, confirming they have intention of trying to bring the Chelsea winger to Turkey, Fenerbahce, via the Standard, released a statement.
“Reports circulating in some media outlets today regarding our club's interest in Chelsea FC player Jamie Gittens are completely unfounded and do not reflect the truth," the club said..
“We once again clearly state that attempts to manipulate Fenerbahçe Sports Club through false transfer claims and artificially created agendas will have no effect.
“Fenerbahce conducts its sporting structure, transfer policy, and future planning in all branches, especially football, in accordance with its own strategy, needs, and established programs.
“Therefore, we expect this approach of using our club's name to create public opinion and steer Fenerbahce towards certain directions to cease.
“We respectfully request that our great Fenerbahçe fans disregard such unfounded news.”
Gittens fully focused on new season with Chelsea
Gittens is expected to play an important role under Xabi Alonso.
The 22-year-old is likely to compete with Morgan Rogers for a place on the Blues' right wing.
And after featuring during Chelsea's pre-season tour of Auatraila and Asia, including scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly, Gitten revealed he is buzzing for the start of the upcoming new season.
“I'm feeling better now,” he told the club’s website last month. “My injuries are healing up now, so I feel really good. I feel in a good space with the team and in my body as well.
“It has been frustrating, but with God’s grace I got through it, and he pulled me up today, so it's just great to score a goal. To be back on the pitch with the team was really good.”
Since joining the Blues from Borussia Dortmund just over 12 months ago, Gittens has scored one and assisted five goals in 27 matches in all competitions.
