It looked optimistic for Chelsea last summer; they won the Club World Cup and made an array of signings. However, not many have lived up to expectations. The Blues had three different managers, lost the FA Cup final, and finished as low as 10th in the Premier League.
Every Chelsea signing of the 2025 summer ranked from worst to best one year later
11. Dário Essugo
Due to injuries, Dário Essugo made just six appearances in total this season.
10. Facundo Buonanotte
It was a strange signing when Facundo Buonanotte joined Chelsea on loan from Brighton. He made just eight appearances before returning to the Seagulls and then being loaned out to Leeds United.
9. Jamie Gittens
Jamie Gittens was expected to be the next best young Englishman to come through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund. However, he has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League with Chelsea. Gittens made just 16 appearances in the division before a hamstring injury cut short his campaign.
8. Liam Delap
Liam Delap starred for Ipswich Town last season, scoring 12 goals in 37 Premier League games. That was for a side that was relegated, so it was expected that he would do better at a club like Chelsea. However, he scored just once in the league this season in 28 games.
His Chelsea career started well with a goal and an assist in the group stage of the Club World Cup. However, his contributions have been minimal since. He did score against Barcelona in the Champions League, but that was the only other goal he got this season. Delap is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, with Everton interested.
7. Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea was seen as a fresh start for Alejandro Garnacho after his stint at Manchester United turned sour. However, he managed just one Premier League goal for the Blues this season. He was effective in the EFL Cup, scoring four goals in four games. This included a brace against Arsenal in the semi-finals. However, the Blues went on to lose the tie across two legs.
6. Kendry Páez
Kendry Páez joined Chelsea from Independiente del Valle, but was sent straight on loan to Stasbourg and then River Plate. He is yet to play for the Blues.
5. Mike Penders
Mike Penders is another player who was sent on loan to Strasbourg. However, he did well this season, making 33 Ligue appearances for Chelsea's sister club.
4. Mamadou Sarr
Mamadou Sarr joined Chelsea from Stasbourg, but made just seven appearances for the Blues. He was then sent back to Strasbourg on loan.
3. Jorrel Hato
Jorrel Hato has been a versatile option for Chelsea this season. He is predominantly a left-back, but can also play center-back and at left-midfield.
2. Estêvão Willian
Estêvão Willian burst on the scene, scoring against Chelsea for Palmeiras in the Club World Cup. At times, he has been brilliant this season, scoring eight goals with four assists in 36 games. However, injuries have disrupted his development. The Brazilian has huge potential.
1. João Pedro
João Pedro scored three goals in three games as the Blues won the Club World Cup last summer. The signing from Brighton & Hove Albion then went on to score 20 goals with nine assists in 50 games this season.
It is still unclear what his best position is; he can play center-forwards, second-striker, and attacking midfield. A hat-trick and an assist against Aston Villa, plus a brace against Napoli, were two highlights from Pedro's season. With Delap failing to impress, Pedo has been the Blues' main goal threat this season.
