A lot of fans believe that Chelsea need to sign another striker. They do not have a prolific forward in their ranks right now, which might be the one thing preventing them from competing for the biggest trophies in football. Then again, one could argue that Arsenal do not either and they atop both the Premier League and Champions League right now.

Football is ever-changing. Perhaps the need for a world-class striker is not as important in this iteration as it was in the past. Another example is PSG, who have done remarkably well with Ousmane Dembele playing centrally.

Even then, one would like to stick to the basics and have a consistent goalscorer in their ranks. Neither Joao Pedor nor Liam Delap has looked like that so far in their Chelsea careers.

It is worth pointing out though that Chelsea have already agreed a deal for their next striker. And he is having no problems finding the back of the net right now.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Emmanuel Emegha’s contract at Chelsea from 2026 will run for the next seven years. The plan is already clear for the striker who keeps shining at Strasbourg.

Emegha's latest goal came this week as Strasbourg defeated Crystal Palace in the Conference League. That makes it seven goals in 10 appearances this season for the Dutch international.

Now, when it comes to the eye test, Emegha does look like a bit of a raw talent who is a bit rough around the edges. But nobody can argue about his goalscoring record. And at 22 years of age, he is only expected to get better.

Then again, if Chelsea want to take the next step and reach the elite level, they might need a proven striker who is ready to come in and immediately make an impact. It remains to be seen if they make a move for such a player.
