With less than two weeks left in the summer transfer window, Chelsea seem to be working hard to put the finishing touches on what has been a successful period of business for the Club World Champions. So, expect quite a few arrivals and departures surrounding Stamford Bridge over the coming days. And it looks two are pretty close to completion.
A lot has been made about the departure of big-name players like Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. While those sagas continue to drag on, it appears that two others are headed to Borussia Dortmund.
Of course, one of them is a name that any Chelsea fan would have guessed: Carney Chukwuemeka. The other comes as a bit of a surprise though. Aaron Anselmino looks set to join him at Borussia Dortmund.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano stated that the exits of Chukwuemeka and Anselmino are now almost guaranteed. Today could be a really important day in this respect as Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea will be in direct club-to-club talks to close the deal.
Fabrizio Romano says double Chelsea exit is almost guaranteed
The expectation is that Chukwuemeka will join Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis. It could be a transfer fee in the region of €20 million plus add-ons and a heavy sell-on clause.
On the other hand, Anselmino is expected to join Borussia Dortmund on a straight loan deal without any option. This is the structure that is being discussed between the two clubs right now.
Of course, both are talented players. But with Chelsea already having Cole Palmer and working on a deal for Xavi Simons, Chukwuemeka is not expected to have much of a future at Stamford Bridge. So, an exit seems to be the best solution for him.
As for Anselmino, it was not too long ago that he was signed from Boca Juniors. Now 20 years of age, he needs some regular football in order to make the adjustment to European football. He is not going to get that at Chelsea. A loan spell at Borussia Dortmund could do him a world of good though.
