Anything can happen in the summer transfer window, especially when you are running short on time. That is the case with Chelsea right now. They have plenty of players who could leave between now and the end of deadline day. That includes names like Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi and more. Of course, any potential signings are believed to be depending on exits taking place first.
At the time of writing, there are two players that Chelsea clearly want to sign before the end of the summer transfer window. One of them is Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United. The other is Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig.
Both players are believed to be keen on joining Chelsea and have turned down other opportunities in the summer. But the situation is clearly complicated at Stamford Bridge, who need to balance the books first and foremost, before considering any further additions. So, it is very possible that both those signings don't happen despite being worked on for weeks.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said that Chelsea 100% expect the Garnacho deal to happen, and there could be a 'here we go', whether that be this week or on deadline day. They are also optimistic about their chances of signing Simons.
Fabrizio Romano names one signing Chelsea are confident about completing
So, at this point, it looks like the Garnacho signing is more likely to happen than the Simons one. Chelsea do seem to be confident about both going through though.
Of course, so far, they have not been able to find new homes for players like Jackson and Nkunku, even though there is believed to be a ton of interest in their signatures. They have been completing other transfers though.
Like earlier on Sunday, Romano confirmed that Chelsea had agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Carney Chukwuemeka for a transfer fee in the region of €25 million with add-ons. Aaron Anselmino is also joining them, but only on loan.
