Chelsea had a hectic deadline day as they attempted to complete their remaining business, which was largely departures. However, for a while they were searching for a new striker after Liam Delap's injury, but in the end the Blues brought back Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland. They also signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton.

Speaking of departures, Nicolas Jackson's move to Bayern Munich was the most dramatic. The Blues called off a previously agreed-upon loan deal after Delap's injury. They were reluctant to sanction a temporary switch, which allowed them to bag a better deal with more money than the previous one. Aside from him, Chelsea also transferred Ben Chilwell to Strasbourg and Alex Matos to Sheffield United on deadline day.

However, two deals collapsed at the final steps. Tyrique George's move to Fulham and David Datro Fofana to Charlton.

George had been linked with a move away for a few weeks, but nothing was confirmed until the last minute, which proved to be a costly blunder for everyone involved. RB Leipzig and Roma were interested in him, but as per the most recent update, a move to Manchester United was even discussed at one point.

According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:

"I can reveal to you that Tyrique George was at some point also an option to be included in the conversation between Chelsea and Man United for Alejandro Garnacho. It was end of June when Tyrique George was one of the names discussed between Man United and Chelsea."

Fulham entered the race on deadline day, and a £22m deal was also agreed upon, but it fell through at the last minute. Romano further gave some information on the player's situation, as he said:

"Tyrique George was really sad yesterday after what happened because for him it was the chance to go and play."

It's obvious for him to be upset after seeing a move fall through at the last possible step. And now he is still at Chelsea despite being aware that, with Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho on the roster, he will most likely struggle for playing time.

However, he will be a member of Chelsea's Champions League squad this season. It is assumed that he will stay at the club at least until January, after which his future will be assessed further, since he may search for a move during the winter transfer window.
