Chelsea were desperately searching for a replacement for Enzo Fernández on deadline day, hoping to bring in quality for a fraction of the fee they received for the Argentine midfielder.
Lamine Camara emerged as the club’s primary target, with Chelsea reportedly reaching an agreement with AS Monaco for the Senegalese midfielder. However, the deal ultimately fell through after it appeared that the Ligue 1 side had pulled out of the agreement.
There is now a suggestion, however, that Camara himself may have been the one to reject a move to West London.
Comments from a former Chelsea loanee may have shed further light on the situation, with the player revealing that he had spoken to Camara shortly before the proposed move collapsed. The conversation could have played a role in the midfielder’s decision and potentially contributed to the breakdown of the deal.

The player has seemingly put the speculation behind him and is now focused on the future with his club, with his performances beginning to improve as a result. A 2-1 home victory over Lens kept Filipe Luís’ side at the top of the table, after which Zakaria urged Camara to put Chelsea firmly out of his mind.
