Suddenly, there seems to be a bit of uncertainty around the future of Enzo Maresca. The Italian made some cryptic comments recently about his worst 48 hours since joining Chelsea and not getting support. It is still unclear who he was talking about in this regard. The fans, the sporting directors, the ownership or somebody else?

One has to wonder if things are heading south behind the scenes. One could argue that Maresca did not get the backing that he wanted in the summer. The manager was clearly eager for a new centre-back to be signed after Levi Colwill suffered an ACL injury in pre-season. But one was not signed, with the club seemingly happy with the options already available at Stamford Bridge.

That is just one example. Perhaps there might be more reasons for friction behind the scenes that we do not know about.

It is also worth mentioning that Maresca had hired Jorge Mendes earlier in the year. Does he have his eye on a move away from Stamford Bridge in the future? And if so, who could replace him?

Most Chelsea fans would like to see the club sign a proven winning manager. But considering everything we have seen from the new ownership, that is unlikely.

Amid all this, Cesc Fabregas has been suggested as a possible option for the club, if there is a managerial change in the future. As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison said:

"He’d be very good (Cesc Fabregas). He’s doing a great job at Como, and of course he used to play at Chelsea."

Of course, Fabregas knows the Premier League very well from his days as a player. Not only did he play for Chelsea but he was also Arsenal's captain.

He is currently the manager of Como FC in Italy. He guided the newly-promoted side to a 10th place finish last season and they seem to have taken a step forward this time around, sitting at 7th spot right now.

Of course, there would be question marks around Fabregas' experience if he were to be appointed Chelsea manager in the future. At the same time, we do not know if he is capable of guiding a team to trophies, something that Maresca has proven that he can do. For now, all of this is mere speculation. Let's wait and watch what the future holds.
