Chelsea had their biggest win of the Premier League season since the reverse fixture as they destroyed Southampton 4-0. It was a complete performance for the Blues and they controlled the match from start to finish to get the job done against the worst team in the league. Here are four things we learned from a much needed win!

It could always be worse!

This seems silly to say for those fans who were protesting Chelsea’s new ownership but ths match is a good reminder that things could always be worse. Southampton is nowhere near the level of Chelsea as a club but they are a Premier League club that simply can’t get things right.

The Saints are on a historic pace to be one of the worst teams in Premier League history as they currently sit on 9 points with 11 matches to go. The lowest point total in Premier League history was 11, set by Derby County in the 2007-08 where they won just one match out of 38. They had an absurd -69 goal difference which is within reach for Southampton as they boast a -46 mark as of this match.

This is not to say that Chelsea should ever be as bad as Southampton considering the status of the club, but this match should serve as a good reminder that no matter how bad you think things are they could always be worse. Southampton were willing lambs to the slaughter today and it was a massive boost for the Blues as they finally get back to winning ways.
