Cole Palmer isn’t scoring but he’s doing everything right

The goals will come for Cole Palmer! Chelsea’s starboy has been on a bit of a goal drought and has now gone 7 matches without scoring, the longest dry spell of his Blues career so far.

Against Aston Villa he cut a frustrated figure as misplaced passes were followed by some huffing and puffing and a chance that he would’ve buried in December lead to nothing. He was backed by Enzo Maresca after that match as his manager noted that he works incredibly hard but the club’s over-reliance on him has hurt his performances.

The goals still didn’t come against Southampton and on a different day he could have had a hat trick against a lesser keeper or with a bit more precision. Despite the misses, Palmer’s facial expressions and body language were much more positive as he had a wry smile rather than a grimace after a miss.

Palmer is still doing all of the right things by driving Chelsea’s attack and is at the heart of all the key moves and we just know that the goals will come. He is incredibly talented and confident and if he continues to do the little things well then the floodgates are due to open at any minute.
