Chelsea could be willing to sell Malo Gusto, with reports suggesting the club may be ready to lower their asking price for the right-back.
The Frenchman attracted plenty of interest over the summer, with Manchester City among the clubs looking at a potential move.
However, Chelsea's £75 million valuation proved too expensive, while Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain were also reportedly put off by the price.
Now, Chelsea could be more open to letting Gusto leave Stamford Bridge, although that does not mean the club will accept just any offer.
Chelsea could lower Malo Gusto asking price
According to a report from Sacha Tavolieri, via Get Football News France, Chelsea are now open to selling Gusto after pricing several interested clubs out of a move in the summer.
The 23-year-old played a significant role last season, particularly with Reece James needing to have his workload managed. Gusto provided an alternative at right-back and was an important member of the squad under both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.
However, his situation could be different this season. Not only has he fallen out of favour with the French national side, Chelsea's failure to qualify for European football means he'll have limited opportunities, and even more so amid Josh Acheampong's emergence.
With several clubs having already shown an interest, Chelsea may see an opportunity to bring in a sizeable fee if the right offer arrives.
It is worth remembering, though, that Gusto's priority is believed to be to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
Should Chelsea sell Gusto?
There is a decision to be made here for Chelsea. Gusto is still only 23 and has plenty of time to develop, but the club must also consider whether he will get enough opportunities to justify keeping him.
James remains an important player, but his fitness has been managed carefully in recent seasons. Having Gusto available would give Xabi Alonso cover in one of the side's most problematic positions.
Acheampong's development is encouraging, and more opportunities could help him take the next step. However, relying on a young player to provide cover across a full season is a big ask.
Chelsea may be more willing to listen to offers than they were in the summer, but the fee will be the deciding factor. The club clearly placed a high value on Gusto when Manchester City and other sides showed interest, and any decision to sell should take into account the cost of replacing him.
For now, there is no confirmed deal, and Gusto's future remains uncertain. Chelsea will need to weigh everything up before making a decision in January.
