Geovany Quenda has suffered a setback at the very start of his Chelsea career.
The Blues reached an agreement to sign the 19-year-old from Sporting Lisbon over 12 months ago, but after allowing him to stay in Portugal until this summer, have only just welcomed him to the club.
The talented winger is now part of the Blues' first team and preparing for his first season in the Premier League working under Xabi Alonso.
Sadly though, Quenda's time at Stamford Bridge hasn't got off to the best of starts.
Geovany Quenda suffers early injury setback
The Blues jetted off on their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia last Friday and are preparing to face Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday before playing Spurs four days later.
Unfortunately though, according to the Daily Mail, Quenda has been forced to stay behind after he picked up 'a small injury'.
The exact nature of the teenager's injury is not known, but it isn't thought to be serious.
However, remaining cautious, Chelsea have decided to keep the 19-year-old in England before allowing him to join up with his new teammates in Asia next month.
Chelsea will play Juventus in Hong Kong on August 5, AC Milan in Jakarta on August 8 and Johor Darul Ta'zim in Johor on August 9 before hosting Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge on August 15.
More bad news
Frustratingly, Quenda isn't the only player to have suffered a recent injury setback.
Emmanuel Emegha has also been forced onto the treatment table after picking up a hamstring injury during a recent friendly.
The 23-year-old striker, who joined from sister-club Strasbourg this summer, was among the goal scorers in the Blues' behind-closed-doors 3-0 friendly win over Bromley earlier this week. Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro also found the back of the net.
Emegha's unfortunate injury — not thought to be too serious — has forced him to withdraw from team training but there is hope he can return again soon.
Xabi Alonso will be hoping his early run of bad luck with injuries won't be a trend that continues once the new 2026-27 season starts at the end of August.
The Spaniard will kick off his Chelsea career away to Fulham on August 24.
If the 44-year-old is to get the Blues back into European contention, he will need all his best players available, especially his strikers, who have mostly failed to deliver in recent seasons.
